PPWR environmental claims

Article 14 permits an environmental claim about a packaging only where it goes beyond what the Regulation already requires. 'Recyclable' stops being a selling point once recyclability is compulsory.

Article 12(8) sits alongside it, prohibiting labelling that could mislead consumers about a packaging's environmental properties or its disposal route. Both applied from 12 August 2026 and neither waits on a pending act — which makes claims review one of the shortest paths from a PPWR programme to a decision that changes artwork.
