PPWR replacing Directive 94/62/EC

Directive 94/62/EC was repealed on 12 August 2026, when PPWR began to apply. The repeal is not clean: Article 70(1) keeps several provisions alive on separate timetables, and one of them has no computable end date.

The legacy marking under Article 8(2) of the directive survives until 30 months after the Article 12(6) implementing act enters into force. That act was due on 12 August 2026 and has not been adopted, so the old marking regime continues indefinitely. Other survivals expire on fixed dates: parts of Articles 5, 6 and 6a cease at the end of 2028, most of Article 12 with them, and Decision 97/129/EC is repealed on 12 August 2028. Anyone still working from the directive's numbering needs to know which of its rules are actually still in force.
