PPWR recyclability assessment
Packaging must be designed for recycling and graded A to E under Article 6, with only grades A and B permitted on the market from 1 January 2038. What does not exist yet is the method for producing a grade.
The design criteria and the grading method sit in delegated acts under Article 6(4), due 1 January 2028 and not adopted. No harmonised standard has been cited in the Official Journal either, so Article 36 offers no presumption of conformity to fall back on. The platform therefore collects the Annex II Table 4 design parameters now and states the obligation without issuing a grade — so that when a methodology lands, the change is a formula and a re-run rather than a portfolio-wide data campaign under deadline pressure.
